Looking forward

Looking foward

I am really enjoying being back in the gym and looking forward to what the next few years will hold -  its an exciting time in our sport !
It was great to see so many new people and especially kids competing at the JME at the weekend
Also it was awesome to hear that Matt Swift has nearly 100 people interested in lifting competitively  at CFB
Ben also is coaching weightlifting at a lot of Crossfit clubs on the Northside
The gym is really busy at the moment and I can see it getting busier - if you want more attention Wed and Sat are better training times as it tends to be quieter on those nights.

London Olympics

It was a great honour  to be chosen as Australia's Section Manager and Head Coach for Weightlifting for the Olympics and to actually experience what it was like being at the Olympics  and be at the Opening and Closing Ceremony, live in the village and use the training hall, work with the press and AOC, be in the warm-up room and bring   athletes to the platform.

Also with a great honour like this also comes great responsibility and I was very conscious to work as hard as I could to do my best for the team and the country.

I was surprisingly busy and  I did not feel  I really had a chance to have any real downtime until I had been there for 2 weeks.

Damo had not had the best buildup so the hoped for 400+ total was not achievable but his 165, 216 was a great result also Seen placed 7th in the 63's - the best she could have done in her group.

Its really hard to summarise the "What was it like?" question but I suppose the best answer is "A great honour to be part of it  and an awesome experience"
